MY 2017 HUNTING JOURNAL

SEPTEMBER 30TH TO OCTOBER 18TH

I spent various days in the ground blind but saw nothing while actually hunting in daylight hours, either mornings or evenings, Deer are showing up on my trail camera near the blind at 7-8pm, again around 5-6 am... but not in daylight. Hopefully it will get better for the "rut". I have captured photos of 4 different bucks on camera. One is a nice 8 pointer.

OCTOBER 19TH TO OCTOBER 22ND

Senior special rifle season. I had Thursday off and hunted much of the morning seeing nothing, in the afternoon I matched that seeing nada. Wednesday was a late afternoon hunt from the ground blind and again nothing.... I don't really enjoy cold weather but maybe that's what I need to get deer moving in daylight.

OCTOBER 23rd TO NOVEMBER 11TH

Sat in the ground blind a few times.. nothing moving in daylight at all .. no apples this year really have the deer acting and moving differently.. I'll have to hope for a "good weather" rifle season or the after Christmas archery season ..
I did get this trail camera photo on November 8th.. I'm guessing Gray Fox ???

NOVEMBER 27TH TO DECEMBER 9 TH

First day of rifle season was pretty much of a BUST around here.. no deer hanging at 9 camps I checked Monday night..
Weather appeared to be a cause , plus deer were not moving on their own and the few hunters around must not have been moving to push some of them.
A junior hunter at one camp missed an 8 pointer and 6 other men at that camp saw a total of abut 6 deer.
I saw a 4 pointer at 7:20 am and an doe a 9:30am .. that was it..
I MAYBE heard a total of 30 shot ALL DAY....

Tuesday night had the camps empty when I got home from work at noon and after hunting till dark .. I saw nothing ..
I work mornings until Friday... so just a couple after work hunts close to home
